The Shampoo Challenge

2010-calli-232 As a stylist I am always telling my clients not to wash thier hair every day, especially in the winter as it can dry out ends and fade color. I'm sure you always hear this but are thinking, "Ok , sure go three days with out a shampoo - are you crazy?!"

Here are some tips I would like to share to make your shampoo challenge possible:

Day 1: Shampoo your hair twice and use conditioner only from mid lengths to ends. Give your self a great Blondies blow out and show off your hair.

Day 2: Dry shampoo( my favorite is Psst - you can purchase it at Walgreens). Spray the dry shampoo at your roots and brush the product through your hair. This will remove any oils and odor in the hair. Next blow dry your hair as if it is wet and style with a round brush. Your hair will look just like day one - maybe even better!

Day 3: Apply dry shampoo at roots like in day 2. By day three try wearing your hair in a sleek pony tail, put a few curls in with a curling iron, tease the front and pull the fringe area back or wear half up. This will tide you over and give you different fun options for your look!

Now, when you are ready to shampoo your hair again here is an important tip to remember -
dry shampoo can add build up too your roots so before you shampoo, massage Kerastase Elixir Ultime into your scalp to help remove oils and impurities.

Next, make sure you have a good clarifying shampoo, Maxi Wash from Kevin Murphy is a great cleanser for that. Use the clarifying shampoo first then follow with your regular shampoo from Kerastase or Oribe.

With these tips I hope you take the shampoo challenge and the next time your stylist asks if you shampoo every day you can say no way!
